The Monkey Jar 2016  The Monkey Jar

Sabbath School Story
5th March 2016
This week’s story was taken by all the children.
Kelsey, began by telling a wonderful comical story with an important message behind it. Kelsey began the story by saying a man took his friend to the zoo.  His friend saw an attendant and asked him “How did you get so many monkeys”? The story unfolded.

Kelsey told the story with such confidence and eagerness, her sense of humour held the adults as much as the target adience, the children.

The man replied “Well! Firstly, we take a jar, fill it with peanuts which the monkeys love.  The jar has to be big enough to get their hands in but not to big so they can’t get their hands out once they have filled them with the peanuts”.

“Peanuts” asked the man? Yes, the attendant said monkeys love peanuts and once they have filled their hands, they can’t get them out of the jar so they are stuck unless they let go of the peanuts, which they won’t do because they love the peanuts. Kelsey then asked for four volunteers, she produced a jar filled with sweets. She asked the children to place their hands in the jar.

The jar was big enough for their hands to go in, she asked them to imagine what would happen if they couldn’t get their hands out of the jar.

This was a wonderful visual way of the children remembering the story as they had all participated in it.  Kelsey completed the story by telling the children, not to be greedy, she reminded them that they must go to Jesus for all their needs and that He would provide them, she told them about loving people not just be greedy but share love with others. Kelsey quoted the Bible reminding the children what Jesus said.

Matthew 19:14
14. But Jesus said, suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
1 John 4:9,11,21
9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
21 And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.
Kelsey went on to speak about love, she spoke about love from the children on Mother’s day, how they would love to hear the words I love you.  The children were told, giving cards on Mother’s day helps moms to feel they are loved.
She began to pray and following the prayer the other children had readings and prayers.

Tianna
Show Your Love by Actions
She read the scripture verse 1John 4:9-11,21

Conroy
We all know that tomorrow the country is celebrating Mother’s Day. Are you giving your mum a present or a card?  This Mother’s Day’s card says “Mom, I love you!” Do you think your mother likes to hear you tell her that you love her?  Of course she does! But do you know what your mother would like even more? She would like for you to show her that you love her.  Conroy asked what are some ways you could show you mother you love her.  The other children took part in giving their answers.

Aaliyah
Well, you might help out around the house.  You could clean your room or empty the rubbish bins.  You could show her that you love her by obeying her when she asks you to do something.  You can show her your love by getting along with your brothers or sisters.

Amu
It is easy to tell your mom you love her, but if you really love her, your actions will show it! Do you think that God likes to hear us tell Him we love Him? I know He does. But He likes it even better when our actions show Him we love Him. How do we do that?

Meeka
The Bible tells us that, “God showed His love for us by sending His one and only Son so that we might live through Him. “It goes onto say, “since God loved us so much, we ought to love one another.” One of the best ways to show our love for God is to love one another. Yes, God likes to hear us say, “I love you,” but He would rather see us say “I love you.”
Two other children gave the closing prayer.

Tallia
Dear Lord,
We thank you for all mothers and carers around the world, and for all they do for their children.

Chanelle
We thank you for their patience when we don’t get things right.  We thank you for their encouragement when we find life hard.
The family and visitors were enthused by this story and how the children presented the story it’s message and prayers.
We thank the Lord for these children and the gifts He has bestowed to them.  May they continue to grow in Christ and be a blessing as they grow.  Let the church family encourage and nurture them as the Father needs us to do.
Thank you children God Bless from all of us.

(If I missed any children please see me so I can correct it and add your name, if I have forgive me)
