Church History

On 28th April 1992, under the leadership of Pastor Roy Morgan, Bible Instructor Sis. Icilda Mardner, and Elder Ron Scarlett, 21 members left Oxford Street SDA Church to start a Branch Sabbath School in Bilston.

The members were;
Brothers:

  • Ron Scarlett,
  • Joseph Nelson,
  • Isaiah McIntosh,
  • Noble Clarke,
  • Kenroy McKenzie,
  • Colin Francis;

Sisters:

  • Evelyn Adair,
  • Jackie Anderson,
  • Beatrice Gordon,
  • Lisa McIntosh,
  • Sharon Francis,
  • Angela Smith,
  • Myrtle Smith,
  • Thelma Mckenzie,
  • Eileen McKenzie,
  • Sonia Mckenzie,
  • Jennifer Clarke,
  • S. Nelson,
  • Selina Hutchinson,
  • Susan McIntosh,
  • Janetta Scarlett,

Of the original twenty-one, four have passed away;

  • Brother and Sister Nelson,
  • Sister Hutchinson
  • Sister Gordon.

Seven have transferred their membership to different churches. Ten remain - after twenty-two years. They are; Brothers R. Scarlett, and N. Clarke; Sisters; E. Adair, J. Anderson, A. Smith, M. Smith, J. Clarke, J. Scarlett, and T. Mckenzie,

Our first place of worship was at The Mission Building, Wolverhampton St. In September 1993, at the North England Conference Session, we were officially accepted as a Church.

In early 1994, the members moved to St Chad’s Parish Hall on Connaught Road, Bilston, which later became the St Chad’s Community Centre.

We have to date been ministered by seven different Pastors:-

  • R.Morgan,
  • J.Nicholson,
  • J. Jeanville,
  • R. Jackson,
  • M. Missimanga,
  • P. Douglas

And our current Pastor is Pastor Samuel Appiah. We were particularly blessed by the Jackson family because Bilston was the family’s main place of worship and Sister Angela Jackson should be mentioned for her good service and support to the church.

After much praying, searching, fundraising, frustration, disappointment, faith and patience, the Lord provided us with a place we can now call OUR Church, our home. We obtained the keys to this building at 27A Bridge Street on 13 June 2014. And after refurbishment, and cleaning, we commenced worshipping on 6 September 2014. We can say Thanks and Praise to the Lord. Glory to His Holy Name - Hallelujah!

We look forward to this weekend Celebrations with great anticipation and thanks to God the Almighty.
