Bilston SDA Church Trip 2015
It began with a morning a bit overcast and the coach arriving on time. By 8:30am all where on-board and eager to get on the road. The weather forecast for Rhyl was rain most of the day, so the alternate destination was decided on – Weston-super-mare. With a word of prayer from Pastor Appiah, the ship HMS Bilston SDA Church set sail. Destination – Weston-Super-Mare.
The trip to the beach was entertaining, with Clarence and Donald containing monitoring and encouraging morale. Pastor Simon was kept busy with questions about his life, he must have answered similar questions from different people at least three times! Nothing like a church trip to get integrated!
The Trip Master himself - seems to be feeling very pleased with himself!
Finally, destination reached, ship anchored and every one off board. It was a most beautiful day, with sun high in the sky and people from everywhere – let’s not forget the seagulls, they too were everywhere!
The sea was miles of shore leaving the hard packed dirty brown in colour sand exposed to the apparent pleasure of hundreds of happy sand loving tourists. There were many sand castle builders burring away in the sand and it seems even the Lawrence family induced in this great British pastime.
The lunch basket was over brimming with food, Dave (Brother Solomon’s brother-in-law) had a massive carrying bag with food that required two men to carry! Everyone who had prepared for the day pooled in Bilston Church style! All were fed and full, there was no need to have fish and chips for many!
Sorry, no sign of Dave's big red bag here, he turned up just minutes later and I was very much into the dumpling and fish by then!
These are the lovely ladies who fed us all, even on the beach they are at work!
The day was mostly spent walking up and down the beach, soaking in the sun and sights. The pier provided a panoramic view of the coast line and the largest banana split seen in the UK!
All were exhausted but delighted when boarding the coach for the return trip home. Pastor Simon did a brilliant job with the children once again, he really kept them under control. He has a marvellous way with them – may he have many of his own!!!
