Family Day 2016

Family Day

Sister M. Lawrence with the welcome. Women's Family Life Leader & Deaconess.

It’s Bilston Seventh-day Adventist Church Family Day and the family to appropriately take to the platform is the Lawrence family. Incidentally the family includes the roles of Men/Women Family Life Leaders along with Head Deacon and Deaconess.

Horatio’s first text read was Proverbs 4:10. He noted that the Bible is a road map to good and healthy families. God, he observed is pleased to see healthy families.

Brother H. Lawrence, Men's Family Life Leader and Head Deacon.

He also said that there were still issues with families and refers to a quote from Paul to the conditions of the last days. Paul spoke the sins of the last days. He noted that it was a fitting description of society today, and even in Christian homes.

Sister T. Lawrence, Communication department.

He spoke of a number of directives in the Bible that provides instructions on how to live a spiritual life:

  • First Directive – Exodus 20:12 “Honour your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.”
  • Second Directive - Ephesians 6:1 “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.” Colossians 3:20 “Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.”
  • Third Directive – Proverbs 22:6 “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”
  • Four Directive – Ephesians 6:4 “Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
