A True Story Delivered by:  Brother Mark Palmer from Central Church

Brother Mark began by saying good morning, he spoke to the children in full humour mode as he asked how they were. He asked all children if they had breakfast, one answered saying they had Coco Pops, three had toast, three Ready Break, one Weetabix, one Crunchy Nut Cornflakes and finally one who had Waffles and Honey.

Immediately Brother Mark responded with humour wow, are you royalty? that’s posh.  The church reacted with laughter along with the young one.  Brother Mark continued by asking Aaliyah a young girl who was visiting for the first time to read Psalm 37:25. Aaliyah read with enthusiasm.

Scripture: Psalm 37:25 "I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging for bread."

Brother Mark began saying “there are many countries who have no food, nothing to eat, yet all of you this morning has eaten breakfast, especially the royalty with Waffles and Honey.  Brother Mark delivered a wonderful true story from era of the 1930’s, he asked if anyone remembers the 1930’s expecting all children would reply no but one of the children replied yes, to which Brother Mark replied, “WOW you’re not only royalty, with waffles and honey, but you also know about the 1930’s”.

Brother Mark continued the story, in the 1930’s there was a serious depression which affected many, many people.  Money was worthless.  One man had a wheel barrow full of money, he went to use it to buy bread.  The depression even affected Christians.  Brother Mark mentioned there was a certain man, he and his family were Christians. Brother Mark said all though this is a true story we will call this man Mr Posh after the young boy who had waffles and honey for breakfast. In the Posh family there was Mr and Mrs Posh and children. Mr Posh always taught his family when we speak to God He’s always there.

One day Mr Posh got up early, he went to the kitchen to make breakfast, he looked in cupboard, it was empty, he looked in the larder it was empty, he looked on the table, he looked in cupboard draws, and in the fridge and guess what? it was empty.  There was nothing in the house to eat.

When Mrs Posh and the children came down, Mr Posh said, “there isn’t anything in the house to eat, we have nothing”. The children said “were hungry what can we do”? Mr Posh said “We will ask God”.  The children began to pray, “Dear Father, we are in trouble, we have no food will you help us please”?  Mr Posh explained, when we pray our words go to the Holy Spirit, it leaves our mouth and then it’s taken straight to God’s throne.

In the town where the Posh family lived was a baker.  The baker thought to himself, I am going to make lots and lots of bread and make money selling it. He got up early and baked lots and lots of fresh bread for the day.  He baked all the bread and packed it into baskets and put all the baskets into the baker’s van and closed the doors.  He then began his drive to sell his bread, as he was driving it began to rain. It got heavier and heavier, it poured down.  It rained so hard the van suddenly lost control. It skidded in the rain, spiralled out of control and crashed.  He wasn’t hurt or the van.

Brother Mark asked the children a question. “Where do you think the bakers van crashed”?  One of the children answered on the road by Mr Posh’s house.  Brother Mark said “yes” “the van went out of control the doors of the van flew open and the bread was rolling all over the place.  The Posh family heard the bang from inside their house.  They all ran out to see what it was. They saw the bakers van and all the bread. The went to help the baker collect the bread.  The baker said “collect it all and you can have the lot because it could be damp, I will go back and bake more fresh bread.”

The Posh family collected bread, after bread, after bread; they all had bread for breakfast, toast for dinner, bread for supper and breakfast the following morning.  Mr Posh said, “do you see what I was saying? “When we ask the Father, our prayers go straight to His throne, and our answer came by the baker’s van, crashing right by our gate and all the free bread we can eat and more.”  “We had no money, no food, yet bread was provided, it came right to our door no charge. This morning we had no food and no money to buy food and now we have been provided for, look at all the bread we have.”

The baker went back to the bakery to bake more bread. Brother Mark told the children, “if they ask God for things in faith he will do for them just as he did for the Posh family.

Brother Mark reminded the children of the scripture reading used at the beginning of the story.

Psalm 37:25 I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging for bread.

To close, brother Mark asked if one of the children would like to close in prayer. They thanked the Father for helping us, for watching over us, they asked if we can have faith, to home and put it into action. Once again both children and adults were blessed and learned from the true story by brother Mark Palmer.
