At their request, they will also be singing during our service on 21st December.

Report: Wednesday October 2019

October's community day lunch took place as usually on the first Wednesday. Attendance was 25, plus other  volunteers who offered their support. As  expected, everyone mingled, sang and eat well. After eating, the choir practised for the annual harvest service that took place on Sabbath 5th October.

The service was well attended, not only were there members of the group -  also known as The Bridge St community Choir, there was in attendance the carers and their family members who came to support the Choir. With heart and good spirit, they sang four songs; " Bringing in the Sheaves", "Thank You Lord", "Love is a flag flying high" and "The Joy of the Lord is my strength".

Most of the participants don't attend Church at all, but you wouldn't think so by the way they embraced the singing and the time spent in fellowship with the Church members. Often times, so much effort is spent on trying to invite members of the community to a Church service - only to find very few - if any attending. So, when more than 20 come at once, there is much to be thankful for. And as our minister who preached the harvest sermon commented, this was evangelism in action.

Report: Wednesday September 2019

September’s Community Lunch day went well. With several volunteers coming and supporting the occasion. The guests were treated with the usual generous portions of food and drinks, which they all enjoyed. There were over 20 in attendance - fewer than the usual number because a group of them were away.

However, there were still members from the neighborhood who attended for the first time. After eating, they looked forward to their singing. This week they learnt new songs and are looking forward to attending our Sabbath service when they are hoping to join in the forthcoming harvest service.

Report: Wednesday August 2019

Once again the Church doors were opened to the community for the monthly lunch time fellowship. A bright and sunny day, it held a lot of promise for a great day for food and fellowship; and that it was. Members, along with friends gather around for good food and fellowship. By now, many had become regular faces, meeting as friends.

The Church was once again filled with regulars. Attendance was around 30 people altogether. Marcia Jones was there to help out. A lively song service was led by Sharon and Angela. The food was so good that there wasn’t any left overs!

Report: Wednesday July 2019

July’s community lunch meeting went very well, and was also very well attended, with some 30 in attendance. We were also blessed with a number of volunteers who supported with serving the good food as usual. They also joined in with the singing that the regular attendees and their carers look forward todo much . They have been asked to take part in a festive event in the City at the end of the month and are looking forward to performing the song “What a wonderful world”.

The group were looking forward to a day trip later in the month, but had to be cancelled due the health and safety considerations - with much disappointment.

As usual, the day ended with a short devotion by our Elder. We were asked to do good to others throughout the month.

Until we meet again next month, God bless.

Report: Wednesday June 2019

Our last Community lunch day earlier this month was the the 1st anniversary since we launched in June 2018.

Only one visitor attended the first gathering, but from the second meeting, the members from Bridge St community have been regularly attending, and June's was no exception.

A total of 28 visitors attended., including 5 who came for the first time. As usual, they were blessed with food - this time of soup and a buffet lunch, followed by the now customary sing along, which they so look forward to. It was also Simon's. Birthday. Simon loves music, so when he was asked to choose some songs for singing, he didn't hesitate to select some of their favorites, and a couple of new ones. They all had a great time.

Thanks to those who regularly support the project and their continued commitment. With God's grace, we look forward to continuing to serve the community for the the next 12 months.

Report: Wednesday May 2019

Not the best of days, rainy and cloudy but that didn’t keep the Church doors closed, as the Community Lunch day began with the members of Bilston SDA Church gathered for the day. With keen anticipation, the guests arrived. Regulars and a few new faces, the members welcomed all. It wasn’t long before everyone was mingled together and singing, as the food was served.

With a three-course meal, lots of singing and delightful chit chat, stomachs were filled and warmed. Souls were introduced to the love Jesus and his mission to spread love in the world as Elder Griffith lead the devotion. In this case, this little bit of Bilston. How marvellous is the love of God!

Today there were around twenty people visiting excluding the faithful members and friends, who were there to serve and greet the visitors. The visitors were made up of some regular faces along with a few new comers.

On this occassion one visitor was Ms Grace Walsh, the director of Health Ministries of The North England Conference. She was greatly impressed with the work of the Church in the Bilston community and took part in the ministry to the visitors.

Report: Wednesday February 2019

Another fine day it was, with a turnout of 16 visitors attending the last community lunch event. Most were familiar faces, but there were some who attended for the first time. In addition, three new volunteers came for the first to support with serving and interacting.

As usual, the food was good and was well received. This wasn't just soup and sandwiches, but a full 3 course serving - which is why we not longing call it a 'soup kitchen. it will now be known as Community Lunch Day.

After eating, they all took part in learning some new songs. And did they sing and enjoy themselves! It was definitely one of the happiest sessions to date - which was the feedback shared. The group - no called the Bridge St Community Choir, are learning songs to sing on Easter Sabbath.

The session ended with devotional and prayer.

A big thank you, as usual, to those who continue to support us. Thanks also to the carers who play such a vital role. . The next session is on 6th March. Please continue to support us. Praise the Lord for his blessings! - Reporter: C. Crosdale

Report: Wednesday 9th January 2019

Happy new year to everyone who have supported the Church’s Soup Kitchen. It is safe to say that God’s blessing on this little Church has touched the lives of many in the Bilston area through this community service effort. The Church is thankful to all (friends, visitors and members) for making it such a success – Thank You!

This month’s occasion did not see everyone turn up as there was a misunderstanding with the date. The date was changed to the 9th of January to avoid the celebrations of the New Year.

Even so, the Church doors were open, and visitors and members were grateful to share the warmth and followership that awaited them on a typical cold January day. It is now a normal routine for everyone to share in fellowship that takes place on these days. And although the group choir name will change every now and then, the members are willing to sing to anyone who will hear them. On this occasion, they are preparing for the Easter celebration.
