The evening was very chilly, yet Bilston Church and friends turned out at St Chads Church for our very own Variety Show 2014. With the church almost full, Donald McIntosh got everyone together with a short song service and prayer.
The masters of ceromeries.
The first item was two songs by Miranda.
Miranda
Her melodious voice set the tone for the evening with a great act that was followed by Charmaine Morgan, who proved that she was just as capable.
Charmaine Morgan
She was really good and very much on par with the famous Saudi Patty when she did one of her favourites. Cheeky Donald commented his amazement how such a great voice could be in such a pocket sized person!
We then had two poems from Bilston SDA Chrch own membership. The first was Enroy Junior Vickers with a short lively poem

and Sandra with lyrics that intertwine our realty with the virtues of Jesus. These two are on their way to become great poets one day!
Sandra
Then came Clarence Crosdale showstopper of the night, his Mr and Mrs with three couples (two married and one engaged). He had a partition between a pair and gave them a pair of red and pink paddles each. The pink - her and the red - him. He asked 7 questions to each pair. They were to answer with the appropriate paddle. They would win when both paddles were the same colour.
The Couples
It was hilarious, the audience was in roaring with glee and couples would “disagree” or in one event, one person decided to put both paddles up! It proves a very entertaining event and the audience thoroughly enjoyed it.
Disagreeing?
Clarence Crosdale then interviewed an author about her new book release. Her name, Oenca Fontaine. The title of her book is My God in a Time Like Now – a personal reflection.
Her book tells the story of how one woman emerged from the trials of her life to find promise and hope in the future. An autobiography that depicts conflicts and encouragement. She is confident that the book will appeal to all readers will inspire their spirituality.
Clarence interviewing Oenca
Oenca is a Seventh-day Adventist, a mother, a wife and an independent leadership and talent development consultant. She can be contacted by email: enca@christianleadershipministries.org.uk. Her book can be purchased on Amazon.co.uk.
Another very entertaining act came from Jay and Yvonne as Mr and Mrs Singh. They had everyone on the edge of their seats in laughter with their accents. They, speaking like an Asian couple “just off the boat” spoke to the audience on a number of minor topics, it proved to be a crowd winner.
Jay and Yvonne
Another act followed swiftly on a similar trend from Charmaine and Yvonne. They acted the part of two vain highly hypocritical judgemental church sisters, the title of the act: Judged Not less Ye Be Judged.
Sabrina Barnett-Alexander
Sabrina Barnett-Alexander was our next singer, her song: Shout to The Lord. Her song was about nothing compares to Christ. Another beautiful, her song can be found on YouTube: http://youtu.be/RG9D5U6cSfw
Clarence then had a singing competition. He would give a song, then ask someone to sing it to a different tune he played on the piano. It was immensely amusing and went down with well with everyone. For their troubles, each of the volunteers got a bottle of wine for their efforts.
Sheron Crosdale
Sheron Crosdale was one of these “volunteers” and she went on to sing a Christmas song of her own composition. It actually sound good and can be seen on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0D9sCM7VZUs.
Sister Scarlett did the last song and had help by Ralette her niece. They made a good duet together.

Another act came on stage: Jay and Yvonne as Mr Spokey and Mrs Speaky. This time they are Russian immigrants. They brought the roof down. They took Sebastian from the audience and they took the mick out of him, accusing him of been a spy and all other kind of things. They then had a go with Herbert next and he played right along with them, hilarious it was.
Jay, Yvonne and Herbert
Not satisfied with their spontaneous interrogation of MI6 agents, they turned their attention to the odd English upper class couple. With adopted posh airy accents they began to decimate (took the mick) Caribbean national dishes.
Unfortunately for them, someone in the audience did not take to kindly to that (this could have been part of the act), and began questioning them on how silly such things as fish and chips in newspaper sounded compared to ackee and salt fish. The audience soaked it up with laughter. They laid in on that poor chap with laughter and ridiculed in their posh accents.
Our next act was by Charmaine Morgan. She spoke of Christ coming and the signs of the time. Her song is called; That Seems Like Heaven To Me.
Our last act was a song by Yvonne McCoy - Mrs Spokey herself; I Know That My Redeemer Lives, was powerfully song. She then spoke of marring to Christ when you give your heart to him and did her last song on that subject.
Yvonne Mccoy
Pastor Jackson then prayed to close the programme. It turned out that our Saturday Night programme was a success. Sorry you missed it, but rest assured, there will be more in 2015! Happy New Year and God’s richest blessing be with you!
