New Pastor

I believe in the testimony of scripture that in everything God works to fulfil his greater purpose, in the life of humanity. Two things stand out to me in this current crisis-

Despite the challenges of social distancing this is a glorious opportunity to share the message of the soon Comming of our resurrected Lord to rescue the faithful. Nancy are fearful and apprehensive of the future. Jesus commenting on the sign of the time said...

“And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken...Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.”
Luke‬ ‭21:25-28‬ ‭NKJV.

In verse 31, Jesus said that the world will be asking what do these things mean? Christian believers have a spiritual perspective that should not be hidden but be put out there as part of the social dialogue. We should stop the spiritual navel gazing and share the words of Christ with a dying world.

Joseph’s siblings out of malice sold him into slavery thinking to destroy him. Yet Joseph could later testify to his brothers -

“But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.” ‭‭
Genesis‬ ‭50:20 ‭NKJV‬‬

The Adventist understanding of prophecy see as part of the end time scenario the worldwide restriction of worship and the demand for the worldwide worship of Satan under the guise of Antichrist. Our churches would under this understanding not be able to operate legally, so how would we cope organisationally. Armies run War Games and governments run scenarios to see how their teams would cope under various stressful situations. I see this as a wonderful opportunity for the church organisationally to see how it would cope under such a scenario. We have a grand opportunity to challenge members to operate their cell groups/ house churches. When the organised church is interdicted the local leadership will have to step up to the plate and run things.

I am presently stuck in Jamaica and the Jamaica Union and its entities are all using their various platforms to run Virtual church, using TV internet and radio, covering the whole island. I see NEC doing the same using Adventist Hope Media, DAB radio and the like. As Adrian Roberts said quoting a politician, do not waste the wonderful opportunities of a crisis. My view is that this crisis is a wonderful opportunity to reach out o the unsaved because their minds are open to new spiritual ideas as a result of Fear and the social upheaval. Lets not get distracted by Adventist prophetic hair splitting that is Satan’s distraction. Ezekiel 33: 1 - 11 is our marching orders in this crucial time.
