The afternoon programme was dedicated as an appreciation service to Elder Ronald Scarlett.
The Elder, who is now in his later years, had stepped aside from the role of 'First Elder' of the Bilston SDA Church, which he had held for the last twenty years. He was one of the founding fathers of Bilston Church from its inception, prior to that, he was a member of the Oxford Street SDA Church (now Wolverhampton Central SDA Church).
This special afternoon service was held in his honour. With the stage set in the format of 'This is your life' the Elder was taken down memory lane. The nostalgia was thick in the atmosphere as he was reminded of the many good things he has done for the Church and for the God he loves. This was reinforced with members expressing their thanks for intervening in their lives.
Elder Scarlett is most noted for his service to the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA-UK) and his most treasured passion for Stewardship. Many a miles he has traveled, collecting gifts from people of all walks of life, to help those in need through ADRA and the community services of the Church.
The Church presented a plaque of appreciation to the Elder, and so came the end of a very long day of celebrating the end of the year, the birth of Christ, our children and the service of a very godly man; Elder Ronald Scarlett - the 'Father' of Bilston SDA Church.
Here are some pictures of that remarkable visit.
